We haven't gotten a milk cow yet, but I've wanted one for years. Not sure when I can manage it, but someday I'll have my milk cow.
I want to get one of those belly milkers, (also called surge milkers, I think) too. Arthritic hands, not so great for milking, especially in cold weather. I figure get a used one that works, but needs work, and restore it. I was looking awhile back, the prices weren't bad.
I grew up on raw milk, and it tastes so much better to me. Used to get raw milk from some Amish folks before we moved to the present location, they've since moved on as well. Loved it. Made my own butter, cottage cheese, and yogurt. Didn't get into cheese-making though, I started a job out a town and that limited the time I had for all hat sort of thing.
I'm retired, now, and I can take the time for the good things in life, like homemade cheese. When I get a cow, that is.
